Metro Area LOSS Team Update, August 2017

On July 1st, The Metro Area LOSS Team established a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Sarpy County Sherriff’s office. This MOU will make a notification call to the LOSS Team as part of Sarpy County Sheriff’s standard operating procedure following a suicide death. After receiving a notification from Sarpy County Dispatch, the LOSS Team will develop an on-call team and respond to the scene within one hour.

Free Suicide Postvention Training Will Be Available in March

The Metro Area LOSS Team, in partnership with LOSS teams throughout Nebraska, will be hosting the first ever Nebraska LOSS Teams’ Conference:  Uniting to Support Survivors of Suicide Loss.  The weekend will provide LOSS team members and the community an opportunity to hear speakers, be involved in panel discussions, and learn about suicide postvention.

Metro Area LOSS Team Update

As you may know, The Kim Foundation and Region 6 Behavioral Health have been busy this summer establishing a LOSS Team in the Omaha Metro area. In June, we held three sets of interviews and were excited to offer 14 individuals and clinicians a place on the team! Of those 14, we were able to get a dozen of them through the three-hour orientation training in July.

LOSS Team Coming to Metro Area

We held our first community involvement meeting for the Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) team that will be coming to the metro area. Nebraska currently has existing teams in Lincoln, Norfolk, and Kearney. The Kim Foundation is very excited to lead the effort of this crucial program for our area, and are grateful to Region 6 and the many community partners who have come together to help us make this possible.
