This is such a fun, festive time of year, but it also bears significant importance for those of us in the mental health field. Mental Health Awareness Week will be coming up very shortly – the first full week of October, and this is always a reminder to focus on building awareness about this crucial topic and puts a spotlight on why we do this job – the individuals and families who need our advocacy and support.

Save The Date!

We are thrilled to announce Kevin Briggs as our speaker for our annual event on October 13, 2015 at Embassy Suites LaVista. Kevin is a retired Sergeant with the California Highway Patrol, as well as an Army Veteran. He spent many years patrolling the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. While on patrol, he encouraged more than 200 individuals to either not go over the bridge’s rail or come back to solid ground.

Then and Now

The Kim Foundation was first founded in 2001, nearly 13 years ago. Thirteen years seems like a long time, but there are still so many who are unsure of what we do or have never heard of the foundation. I’ve only been here for three of those 13 years, but I can no longer keep track of the number of times I’ve heard, “Kim, like the girl’s name?” Or, “Why was the foundation started? Why is mental health important to the family?”
