Save The Date!

We are thrilled to announce Kevin Briggs as our speaker for our annual event on October 13, 2015 at Embassy Suites LaVista. Kevin is a retired Sergeant with the California Highway Patrol, as well as an Army Veteran. He spent many years patrolling the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. While on patrol, he encouraged more than 200 individuals to either not go over the bridge’s rail or come back to solid ground. These challenging, but rewarding efforts earned him the nickname, “Guardian of the Golden Gate Bridge.” After a 23-year career with the California Highway Patrol, Kevin retired to dedicate his life to promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention across the globe.

We are so excited to have him join us for our fall luncheon and feel like his message strongly aligns with our mission of being a supportive resource and compassionate voice for lives touched by mental illness. He is going to be a wonderful addition! Kevin has a unique perspective of the toll that years of mental illness has on individuals who may be contemplating suicide, but also the effect that being involved in those situations has on law enforcement. He believes that suicide is preventable, and that there is hope. There is help. On his website he states, “If I had my wish about a legacy I could leave, it would be one of helping others at their darkest times.” Kevin has certainly done that, and continues to spread a message of hope, healing, and prevention, while fighting the stigma that is too often associated with mental illness. We look forward to an enlightening, dynamic presentation by Kevin Briggs in October, as he uses real stories, letters from suicide survivors – attempt survivors and family members, as well as pictures and first hand encounters to share his message.

Corporate sponsorships are available, as are individual seating and tables for purchase. Watch for more registration information in the coming months, but mark the date on your calendar now!
