On July 19th the Metro Area LOSS Team celebrated our one year anniversary. The Team enjoyed a night out together filled with food, drinks, and plenty of sweets! We even had the opportunity to properly welcome three new members to the LOSS Team.
Over the past year, our Team has grown from an Outreach Coordinator and two Clinical Directors, to include 16 active Team members, an advisory board made up of multiple law enforcement agencies, mental health professionals, an attempt survivor, a loss survivor, as well as representatives from both Region 6 and The Kim Foundation.
Since last year, we have provided nearly two dozen families with local suicide survivor resources, call-outs, and continue to follow-up with these families periodically. In mid-August we will be offering a new member orientation, so if you have an interest in joining the Team, please be sure to apply by August 5th.
We look forward to another year serving our Metro Area community with postvention support.
Our 24/7 LOSS phone is to be used only by sheriffs, chaplains, and any other first responders responding to a suicide call. It is not a suicide prevention hotline. If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, please call 1(800)273-TALK (8255) or 911, if it is an emergency. If you or someone you know has recently lost someone to suicide and would like to schedule a meeting with the on-call LOSS team, please contact The Kim Foundation at (402)891-6911.
