“Melancholy.”

Last Monday evening, The Kim Foundation attended an event hosted by local filmmaker, Nathan Edwards. Edwards and his cast and crew had just wrapped up filming, “Melancholy,” merely hours before the event took place. “Melancholy” is a film about the experience of a young woman in her twenties dealing with the realities of major depressive disorder.

The Slowdown was full of supportive individuals there to help raise awareness of the film, raise funds for the cast, as well as money to help cover post-production costs. The crew warmed up the crowd by preforming a variety of amusing lip-sync battles. While the singers preformed, the audience had the opportunity to place bids on who they thought should be the winner.

After the trailer debuted, Julia Hebenstreit, the Executive Director of The Kim Foundation got up to speak. She covered a variety of topics including community resources, symptoms of depression, and warning signs of suicide. The Kim Foundation also had a booth at the back of the room that offered additional information and resources.

We are so grateful to have been included in such a wonderful event and we look forward to the film’s completion!
