PRESENTER: Rachel Hill, RN, MSN, ARNP is the Founder and Owner of Metamorphosis Holistic and Integrated Therapies. Rachel has had a lifelong interest in nature, health and wellness, and healing the body naturally. She provides consulting for healthcare professionals who desire to integrate holistic therapies into their current practice. She is a network leader for the AHNA (American Holistic Nurses Association) and the vice-president of the MO-KAN local chapter of the AANP. She has written a book for Nurses on Self-Care entitled, “Nursing from the Inside-Out”. She has given numerous presentations for Professional Continuing Education, MONA, Catholic Charities Hospice, Communiversity, on the topic of various holistic modalities. She is currently employed with Catholic Community Hospice.

PRESENTERS: Barbara Wiman, RN, BSN, President of B.E. Education Group, LLC with forty years in the nursing profession has been actively involved in maternity, parenting and women’s health education as well as the development of continuing education programs for nurses and health care professionals.

Susan Crain Lewis, MSSW, President/CEO of the Mental Health America of the Heartland, responsible for oversight of all agency programs, finances, operations and personnel, and is the organization’s lead policy and systems advocate. She possesses over 25 years of program development, management and implementation experience in domestic violence, developmental disability, reproductive health, mental health and child welfare; and extensive background in outcome evaluation, community collaboration, cultural diversity and cultural diversity training, and program, project and grants management.

PTI Nebraska is hosting its 1st Annual Run, Walk, Roll Against Bullying 5K Run/1Mile Fun Walk/Roll
Saturday, October 8th, 2011 at 8:00 A.M.

PTI Nebraska is a non-profit organization and statewide resource dedicated to supporting families with children with disabilities or special health care needs. Bullying is a serious issue that affects all students, including students with disabilities. Every day, more than 160,000 children nationwide stay home from school to avoid being bullied. PTI is inviting the area communities to help address bullying prevention by supporting our 1st Run Walk Roll Against Bullying event. Come make a difference and support this important cause!

Caregiver Day of Support

This event is open to anyone who plays a role in the caregiver process and is provided free of charge by a grant from the Nebraska Respite Southwest Service Area.

Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention National Conference

On October 12-14, 2011, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) will host its National Conference, "Children's Justice & Safety: Unite, Build, Lead," at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD.

Workshops, plenaries, and presentations by leading experts and researchers will promote evidence-based practices that address emerging concerns in delinquency prevention, juvenile justice, and victimization.

Topics will include crimes against children, anti-gang strategies, children's exposure to violence, disproportionate minority contact, girls' delinquency, tribal youth programs, emergency planning for juvenile justice, faith-based and community involvement, mentoring, truancy and bullying, and substance abuse, among others.

PRESENTER: Sharon Goolsby RN has over 28 years of public health experience, specializing in non-traditional settings, with extensive experience working with racial, ethnic and tribal populations. Her knowledge and expertise is rooted in the social determinants of health and from a holistic perspective, mind, body, spirit and environment. As a member of the Kansas Minority Health Advocacy Network, its efforts have been a driving force in the elevation of health and healthcare disparities in Kansas. She previously held the position of Director with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment Center for Health Disparities. Currently, she is an Urban Health and Wellness Consultant and an Associate with Cultural Competency Consulting, LLC.

Alternatives 2011 is being organized by the National Mental Health Consumers’ Self-Help Clearinghouse, a peer-run national technical assistance center funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Mental Health Services.

Scholarship application information will be provided as soon as it is available. However, scholarship funds are always limited.

PRESENTER: Dr. Kat Bowie is a Clinical Psychologist, Body-Psychotherapist, Live and Whole Food Nutrition Consultant, Tonglen Meditation Teacher and Reiki Master Teacher. She is the co-founder of The Struan Center, LLC, a Holistic Health facility in Kansas City, MO. Dr. Bowie writes the monthly column “Eating Live, Becoming Whole” for Kansas City’s innovative monthly magazine Eating Well/Evolving Magazine. An engaging teacher and writer, Dr. Bowie presents seminars on Holistic Psychology, Grief, Anxiety, Stress-Reduction, Live and Whole Food Nutrition, Juice-Fasting, Alternative Treatments for Diabetic Conditions, and Tonglen Meditation. She specializes in presenting programs developed to help reclaim our power as spiritual/human beings and to live a peaceful, gentle, and healthy life.

PRESENTER: Amy Copeland, MS, LPC, received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Northwest Missouri State University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University. Amy is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has over 14 years of experience in the field of mental health, working in both clinical and administrative positions with adolescents, adults, and elderly with serious and persistent mental illness. She has worked as a Dialectical Behavior Therapist and skills group facilitator. Amy is currently employed as the Vice President of Mental Health America.
