Revolution Inspired by Self Evolution (R.I.S.E.) – Suicide Awareness and the Healing Power of Art

Two dedicated men, who’ve felt the destructive impact caused by the suicide of family members, have embarked on a pilgrimage to raise awareness about suicide and invite participation, as they bicycle more than 7,000 miles across the United States.

Eden at Home Workshop

Eden at Home is an evidenced based approach to eliminating the loneliness, helplessness, and boredom that can be experience by any or all of the members of the care team; by providing tools for empowerment of all, including the person relying on care

Participants can be people relying on individuals for care to remain living safely at home or their family and professional caregivers. All are encouraged to attend each of the four sessions.

There is a $20 fee to cover the cost of workbooks; however, scholarships are available to cover the registration cost, or respite, if the person receiving care, is unable to attend the four sessions.

Changes in Guardianship Reporting

Changes in guardianship laws in Nebraska have made significant changes to the reporting requirements and the information which must be provided to the court and other interested parties. Additionally, qualifying as a new guardian/conservator will be more difficult and will include extensive background checks and mandatory bonds.

This educational event will focus on the forms and procedures arising from the new laws and is for parents raising children/adults with special needs the professionals who serve them.

Bridging the Gap to Awareness Event

A.S.K. (Alphabet Soup Kids) and NAMI Nebraska are once again planning its annual "Bridging the Gap to Awareness" for Wednesday, May 9th at the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. Mayor Jim Suttle will be presenting a proclamation making that day National Childrens Mental Health Awareness Day in Omaha and DHHS Director of Behavioral Health, Scot Adams will be the speaker.
