NAMI’s Homefront

Thursdays: March 9, 16, 23, 30, and April 6, 13, 2017

This is a free, six session educational program for families, caregivers, spouses, and friends of military service members and vets with mental health conditions. The program is taught by trained family members of service members/vets and provides the opportunity for mutual support and shared positive impact.

Neighborhood Outreach – St. Pius X Church

The organizations that will be present at the Neighborhood Outreach will provide information on resources available in the community. There will also be free shuttle bus service during the event from Benson High, Florentine Apartments, and Salween Thai Restaurant.

During the Thursday night session, hear the LOSS Team creator, Dr. Frank Campbell speak on how our community can be supportive in the wake of a suicide, followed by a panel discussion with law enforcement, NE LOSS Team members, and local suicide survivors.

Friday’s day long workshop is focused on educating members of the community on suicide postvention. Learn postvention best practices, crisis resolution, how to develop a postvention plan, and how to use words to promote healing. There will be 5.5 CEU’s available for LMHP’s.

Embracing Our Differences: Creating a Culturally Accepting School Environment – SCIP Conference

Keynote Speaker, Ryan Sallans will be presenting on, “Creating Equitable and Affirming School Environments for LGBTQ Youth”. The other topics for the conference include: approaches to meet the needs of immigrant and refugee students, ways that schools can provide a supportive environment for low-income and homeless families, and strategies to promote an accepting environment for LGBTQ students.
