New Funding Opportunity

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has announced Statewide Consumer Network Grants available to organizations that are controlled and managed by mental health consumers. The purpose of this program is to enhance state capacity and infrastructure to be consumer-centered and targeted toward recovery and resiliency, and consumer-driven by promoting the use of consumers as agents of transformation.

The program will support consumer organizations around the country to work with policymakers and service providers to improve services for consumers with serious mental illnesses. The program is designed to strengthen coalitions among consumers, policymakers and service providers, recognizing that consumers are the best and most effective change agents.

Nine awards will be funded with each receiving $70,000 over a three year period. Applications are due February 1, 2007.
