The Center for Holistic Development is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this month. The Kim Foundation was honored to share in part of the celebration. Doris Moore, CEO and President of The Center for Holistic Development, and David Miller, Chief Visionary Officer of the Urban Leadership Institute in Baltimore, MD, joined us for this week’s Not Alone broadcast.
One focus of the Center’s outreach has been to strengthen the role of fathers in the lives of young men of color. Over half of African American boys grow up in single parent households, the vast majority headed by single moms. The Center for Holistic Development believes the potential of each individual for growth, self-dignity, and love for family is limitless. Doris Moore stressed that authentic fatherhood requires a young man to have understanding and to always put God and family in front of his own needs; the Center equips them with the tools to accomplish that goal.
David Miller and Lamarr Darnell Shields of the Urban Leadership Institute will join Doris in hosting Professional Development Workshops July 7 – 9.
