2019 Legislative Session

The 106th Nebraska Legislature started session this month and has had a whirlwind of activity since it began. However, this is only the beginning. An impressive 739 bills were introduced and will now be taken up by the committees. Dozens of bills pertaining to behavioral health have been introduced covering issues from system wide rate increases, to amending previously passed legislation, to broadening training for school staff on suicide prevention, to overall mental health awareness.

Methodist Hospital Community Counseling Program

Mission: To bring professional counseling services closer to youth and families, and ensure these services are available to everyone regardless of their ability to pay.

Funded Program Description: Growing up is hard. Many students deal with a host of problems that affect their ability to concentrate and do well in the classroom. Whether it’s being depressed about bad grades, saddened by a parents’ divorce, or experiencing suicidal thoughts, the Methodist Hospital Community Counseling Program (MHCCP) helps tackle these issues.

The Kim Foundation is interested in going out in the community and giving presentations to schools, civic or service organizations, churches, or groups that are in need of a speaker. These presentations will help build awareness about mental health and suicide prevention, while also focusing on the foundation and our mission.
